Eryngium Plantum – Sea Holly
This is a tall variety of Sea Holly which reaches a height of 120cm. The flowers of this vigorous plant are a wonderful cornflower blue. This plant is used in flower arrangements.
To get the best germination the seeds need a period of cold. The seed can be grown all year around. In the winter, sow the seeds and place in a cold greenhouse or cold frame. The germination can be slow and erratic so allow up to 3 months. In the spring and summer, sow the seeds and seal in a polythene bag and place in the fridge for a few weeks before placing outside.
