This is a spectacular tree producing large, pale mauve "foxglove" flowers on naked branches in early spring. Large, soft furry leaves appear later. If cut to the ground in spring, enormous leaves are produced on the new branches which arise from the base. It grows to a height of 6 to 12 feet.
Sow finely and evenly, covering thinly with compost or grit. Sow in gentle heat in daylight and keep moist. Grow on individual seedlings in 3” pots, and then plant out in a well-drained open position.
