Vernonia Gigantea
This new plant carries flat heads of deepest purple daisies flowering on strong stems in September and October. It provides valuable late colour when almost everything else in the garden has died away, and associates well with late cimicifugas and aconitums. It grows to a height of 5 - 7 feet.
Sow finely and evenly, covering thinly with compost or grit. Germinate in gentle heat or in a warm bright spot outside. Grow-on individual seedlings in 3 inch pots before planting out.
