Sorrel - De Belleville
Sorrel Belleville French is a cultivar with pale-green leaves that grow up to 8cm (3in) long. It is hardy and fast growing. Its large leaves are not unlike spinach and have a sharper, acidic flavour. Its tender young leaves can be used in egg dishes, soups and sauces for fish.
Sow outdoors, in drills, in May, with thin to 30 cm spacing. It is easy to grow, as it likes partial shade and any soil. Cut off flowers to maintain leaf production.
