Thyme - French Summer
Thyme French Summer is a very aromatic herb but is NOT hardy. It has a bushy habit, growing to 25cm with pretty pink flowers. One of the 'fines herbes', it is regarded as having the best flavour of all the thymes, and its leaves are narrower and distinctly more grey in colour. It is great used for flavouring with meat.
Sow outdoors in a confined area, in May, with thin to 20 cm spacing. This thyme likes well-drained soils in the sun, and is not frost hardy. Pick sprigs to use fresh throughout summer. Harvest in September and dry for winter use. Frequent cutting promotes bushy new growth.
