£2.65

Penstemon - Humming Bells Mixed

This is a compact, first year flowering perennial for colourful displays of very densely packed, beautiful, tubular blooms on strong and sturdy stems. This is a great choice for exposed or windy locations, patio containers and borders. This hardy perennial reaches the height of 25cm.

Sow indoors from January to April, to flower the same year, 0.5cm deep, in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse, or on a warm kitchen windowsill. A temperature of 15-20°C is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 21-35 days. Transplant them to other trays, 5cm apart, when large enough to handle. Always hold by a leaf, never by the stem. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions, before planting out into well-drained soil, May-June, 30cm apart, when frosts are over. Flowers from July to October.
