Pea - Zephyr
This is a main crop variety which is semi-leafless to help make picking easier. It has 8-9 medium sized peas per pod with approx. 3 pods per node. Plants show resistance to pea wilt and downy mildew and perform well on heavy soils.
Sow outdoors from March to June where they are to crop, in flat drills 15cm wide and 5cm deep, in well-cultivated, fertile soil. Sow in a zig-zag fashion along the drill, allowing 5cm between seeds. Fill the drill with fine soil and firm down gently. Allow 60cm between rows. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 10-18 days. Harvest from May to September.
