Organic Onion - Sturon
This variety produces a big, round, yellowish-brown bulb for maincrop production. It features outstanding storage ability and first-class quality and flavour.
Early sowings can be made in trays under glass at 14C only lightly covering with compost. Prick off seedlings into trays when about 5cm tall, 5 cm apart. Harden off and plant in the growing site 15cm apart in April. Alternatively, later sowings can be made in the growing site 1cm deep in rows 30cm apart. Thin out seedlings in two stages until spacings of 15cm between plants are achieved. Onions require a very fertile soil. Dig the onion bed in the autumn incorporating manure or compost.
