This old and most attractive and distinctive plum variety of tomato has thick, soft, sweet flesh is most versatile in the kitchen. With its astonishing resemblance to a chicken's egg it is useful both for salads and for cooking.
Sow from February onwards in pots. Will need heat to germinate. Plant out in greenhouse from May onwards or outdoors after hardening off in June. Do not allow the plants to get too cold as they will develop a purple tint and growth will slow down.
We will be adding a large range of tomatoes over the coming months. We have always enjoyed growing the different colours and flavours available.
