Swede - Ruby
This variety is bred for its extra sweetness. It has dark purple-skinned, globe shaped roots with creamy yellow flesh and is a real useful winter vegetable. It has good resistance to powdery mildew. It cooks very well with an outstanding flavour. An AGM winner that is also very winter hardy.
Sow direct May to mid June when the soil has warmed up.
We have had great success planting the seed under cover during May in single modules and planting them out in June. Make sure they are hardened off before planting out.
