Lesser Burdock - Arctium Minus
Lesser Burdock is a tall broad-leaved plant which has purple flowers from July to September. The flowers have distinct bracts with burrs that can catch on fur and clothing. It can usually be found in fertile soil on the edge of woodland or in cleared land in woods. It is a perennial that can take between 2 and 4 years to reach maturity. It has large rhubarb like leaves, when the plant has produced seed, it dies and the next generation takes over.
Sow the seed at any time of the year. Some scarification of the seed may help as germination can take quite a long time.
