Introduced in 1996. This variety was introduced into Europe almost thirty years ago and has now been reintroduced because of its outstanding flavour and texture. The ‘Marmande’ type fruit are typically flattened and ribbed but are not as coarse or misshapen as the heirloom standard. Fleshy, juicy and flavourful, with both heirloom taste and abundant hybrid yields. RHS ‘AGM’
Sow from February onwards in pots. Will need heat to germinate. Plant out in greenhouse from May onwards or outdoors after hardening off in June. Do not allow the plants to get too cold as they will develop a purple tint and growth will slow down.
