A much sought after form of the Trinidad Scorpion, the attractive bright red chillies grow in clusters of two or three. They exhibit the typical rough skin and striking 'scorpion tail' of the type.
Moruga Red is generally recognised as being the second hottest chilli in the world, with an average heat level of 1.2 million SHU, but registering over 2 million SHU for the hottest fruits. The chillies themselves are very fragrant and have a very strong fruity flavour. Great for making curries. Capsicum chinense.
Sow indoors from January to April, in soil 0.5 cm deep, in separate pots if possible. Pot on in late May outdoors either in containers as patio plants or in a well protected site. Peppers can be slow to germinate so allow up 35+ days. Compost should not be too moist to prevent the seeds from rotting. All chilli peppers are very sensitive to the cold.
