Grow Sunflowers for Charity: Join the Boxes of Sunshine Sunflower Club
Wrexham based charity 'Boxes of Sunshine' are giving you the chance to “grow a little sunshine” this year! We are delighted to have joined with the charity 'Boxes of Sunshine' to sponsor their Sunflower Club. Sunflowers are one of the easiest flowers to grow in the UK, making them perfect for beginners and families who would like to grow sunflowers while supporting a wonderful cause.
Their annual Sunflower Club invites you to bring some colour to your garden, by growing your own sunflowers whilst giving them an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for their charity. They started both their charity and the club in memory of their daughter Kirsten, who sadly passed away a few years ago. In the three and a half years since their launch they have sent out over 550 'Boxes of Sunshine' to bring smiles to the faces of young people all over the UK by sending gift boxes to young people living with chronic illnesses or long term health conditions.
We’ve known the family for a long time, and were only too happy to sponsor their Sunflower Club. Sunflowers are really good for beginners and experienced gardeners alike to grow, and we love the idea that people will be growing sunflowers to bring themselves joy, to support the charity and because they were Kirsten’s favourite flowers too.
How to join the Sunflower Club?
Sunflower Club packs are available from www.boxesofsunshine.co.uk/sunflower-club at a cost of just £10 for a family pack or £5 for an individual pack. Packs include giant sunflower seeds, club badges, sweets and a flyer that gives growing tips and details of how to enter the growing competition.
