Broad Bean - Aquadulce Claudia
This variety produces slightly longer pod and more winter hardy beans than Aquadulce. In all other respects, however, they are the same. This is a traditional white seeded variety which is a popular choice with gardeners.
Sow from late October or November or February to April. Draw out seed drills direct into the growing site, 5cm deep in rows, spacing the seeds 10-15cm apart. Early spring sowings may benefit from being sown under cloches. If necessary thin seedlings to 10cm apart. When the first pods have set, pinch out the top 6cm to help discourage blackfly. Harvest once pods become filled with succulent tasty young beans, from June to July.
