Hyssop - Hyssopus Officinalis
Small amounts of the leaves can be added to salads, but its pride is the show of blue flowers on a shrubby plant adored by bees. It grows to a height of 45cm.
Sow inside any time from March to September in soil-less compost in seed trays or small pots. Keep moist at 20C, and prick out when large enough. Alternatively, sow thinly outside in spring when soil has warmed and cover with fine soil. Keep watered if dry and transplant to its growing position when large enough. May be grown in any garden soil, adding lime if necessary, in full sun if possible.
