Lovage - Levisticum Officinale
This shrubby habit needs a lot of space and can reach 2m tall. It has a distinct flavour to leaves and stems which can be used as an alternative to celery.
Sow in spring or summer. Scatter a few seeds in the growing site and rake in or cover with soil. Germination takes approximately two to three weeks. Lovage does best in a rich, fairly moist soil, ideally in full sun, and can be propagated from seed planted in late summer. Water well and thin seedlings as required.
