Organic Lettuce - Saladin
This is a compact 'Iceberg' type with good standing ability. It is resistant to leaf rot and very suitable for spring and summer planting.
Early sowings can be made indoors under glass at 13C in either trays or modules. Seedlings should be pricked off into trays 5cm apart as soon as large enough to handle. Gradually harden off for planting in growing site 25cm apart. Later sowings should be made direct into the growing site 1cm deep, with 30cm between rows. Thin out as they grow to an eventual spacing of 25cm. Thinnings can be transplanted to another site.
