If you are lacking ground space then large pots, holey buckets and containers can be put to good use planted up with dwarf or small varieties of flowers, herbs and vegetables. They are easier to keep weed free and monitor for watering or pest control. They can be moved around when replete or refreshed and planted up with a succession of different plants in season.

Drought Tolerant Containers - plants that need less watering include dwarf grasses, statice, mesembryanthemum and dianthus. Succulents are obvious choice including sedum, sempervivum and echeveria. Herbs such as thyme, sage and lavender make sweet smelling pots, whilst chilli peppers can provide a focal point.
