This popular vegetable is grown for the purple globes that are often served boiled with melted butter and other sauces. The plant has a distinctive flower and will continue to produce a larger harvest each year. This variety is like the green version and is often used in ornamental borders.
Sow from February in the greenhouse and then plant out in early summer. They can also be planted out directly in Spring. Harvest in the second year.
