How to Grow Basil ‘Holy Red’
Sow seeds indoors from March to June in trays or pots using fine seed compost. Surface sow or cover very lightly, and keep at 18–22°C for germination, which usually takes 7–14 days.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into individual pots and grow on in a warm, bright position.
Plant outdoors after all risk of frost has passed, in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil. Basil thrives in warmth, so greenhouse or indoor growing is ideal in cooler climates.
Harvest leaves regularly to encourage bushy growth and prevent flowering.
