Bignonia unguis-cati
In early summer, dense sprays of bright yellow trumpet flower erupt from amidst bright green glossy leaves on a slowly spreading woody vine. Bizarre cat's-claw-like tentacles are used by the plant to fix itself to almost any vertical surface.
Sow at any time in gentle heat, covering with compost or grit 5mm deep. Germination is slow, taking 3 months or more. Grow on individual seedlings in 3" pots, and then plant out in an open position in good soil where it can climb.
