Bulbine caulescens is a very quick growing plant which may even flower in the first year producing a succession of starry flowers over the summer. It grows well in poor soils and will readily self-seed.

Sow the seeds at any time but be aware the seed may need a period of cold in their wet compost to break dormancy. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of fine grit. Germination may take a few months. If no germination after 3 months then a 4 week period in refrigerated conditions to simulate winter.
