How to Grow Chrysanthemum ‘Golden Plate’

Sow Chrysanthemum Golden Plate seeds indoors in early spring using trays or small pots filled with fine, well-drained seed compost. Scatter the seeds thinly on the surface and gently press them into the compost — do not cover, as light helps germination.

Water carefully and place the trays in a bright location at a temperature of 18–22°C. Keep the compost evenly moist but not wet. Seedlings usually emerge within 10–14 days.

Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots. Grow on in cool, bright conditions, watering regularly. Begin light feeding once plants are established.

Harden off young plants gradually before planting outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. Plant in a sunny position, spacing plants around 15 cm (6") apart. Water well after planting and continue to water moderately throughout the season.

Feed every two weeks during the growing season to promote compact growth and continuous flowering. Chrysanthemum Golden Plate will bloom from spring through summer and into autumn, with peak flowering from July onwards, providing long-lasting colour in borders, edging, and containers.
