This is a great introduction from Plant World Devon. The plant produces strong stems in the first year. In the second year these stems will sprout and produce tall branches and profuse flower buds. They will produce an incredible display of delightful purple blue flowers. The plants will often live for a number of years and flower again. The new sprouts will appear in the autumn. Perfect for the bee population.

How to Sow and Grow

Sow the seed any time from late winter ideally in their final spot but also they can be grown in a seed tray in good compost. Germination takes between 2 – 6 weeks. Pot on as soon as large enough to handle. Grow on and then plant out in a sheltered spot or even put in a large pot to overwinter in a greenhouse. You can expect flowers from 1 to 2 years. Protect from heavy frosts.
