Title

Chilli Pepper ‘Firefly’ Seeds

Firefly is a compact, highly productive chilli pepper that delivers impressive heat from a surprisingly small plant. Producing masses of slender fruits that ripen from pale green to vibrant red-orange, Firefly is both ornamental and extremely rewarding to grow.

Despite their modest size, the chillies pack serious heat, reaching around 100,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Each fruit measures approximately 5.5 cm long and weighs around 2 g, making them ideal for drying, grinding, and sauce making. When well grown, plants can produce well over 100 fruits, creating a spectacular display and heavy harvest.

With its compact, semi-prostrate habit, Firefly is perfectly suited to patio containers, pots, and small growing spaces, while still offering the performance expected from a much larger plant.

How to Grow Chilli Pepper ‘Firefly’

Sow seeds indoors from January to March using a heated propagator or warm windowsill. Maintain temperatures of 20–25°C for reliable germination. Sow thinly and cover lightly with compost or vermiculite.

Pot on seedlings once large enough to handle. Plants are naturally compact and perform well in containers, though a small support can help when heavily laden with fruit.

Grow in a greenhouse for best results, or place outdoors in a warm, sheltered position once all risk of frost has passed. Water regularly and feed weekly with a balanced or high-potash fertiliser once flowering begins.

Harvest fruits when fully coloured red-orange for maximum heat and flavour.

⚠️ Handling advice: These chillies are hot. Wash hands thoroughly after handling fruits and avoid touching eyes or skin.
