Globe Artichoke – 1 Root (Taylors Bulbs)
The Globe Artichoke is the classic and authentic artichoke, often regarded as the “true” artichoke. A striking and productive plant, it is a large member of the thistle family grown for its edible flower buds, which are prized for their delicate flavour and versatility in the kitchen.
Both ornamental and edible, globe artichokes make a bold statement in the garden with their architectural foliage and tall growth habit. Once established, plants can crop reliably for several years, making them a rewarding long-term addition to vegetable plots, allotments, and mixed borders.

Planting & Growing Information
Position:
Plant in a sunny but sheltered position for best growth.
Soil:
Requires fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Incorporate plenty of well-rotted compost or manure before planting to improve yields.
Planting:
Plant the root as soon as possible after purchase, ensuring the crown sits just below the soil surface. Water well after planting.
Care:
Keep the area weed-free, as weeds compete for nutrients and moisture. Feed during the growing season with a general fertiliser to encourage strong growth.
As plants mature, they may become top-heavy, so staking may be required, especially in exposed locations.
Harvesting:
Harvest unopened flower buds when they are firm and well developed, before they begin to open.
