Black Cumin - Nigella Sativa
Black Cumin is an annual bearing white and blue tinged flowers. The aromatic seeds can be used for flavouring - just grind and use like black pepper. This is not the true Black Cumin - Bunium persicum which is found only in Morocco, but a very good alternative. Variously called fennel flower, nutmeg flower, Roman coriander, blackseed or black caraway.
Easily grown in any good garden soil, preferring a sunny position. This is a greedy plant that inhibits the growth of nearby plants, especially legumes. Sow in spring or early autumn in situ. Sowing in autumn might not be successful in harsh winters. Plants can be transplanted if necessary.
