When February to April.
Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover with 0.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 21-28 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 10cm apart in trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Transplant 60cm apart in flowering position.
Flowers July to October, the following year.
For outdoor sowing
When May to July.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 25cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care When large enough thin to 10cm apart. Transplant 60cm apart in flowering position from September to October.
Flowers July to October, the following year. Trim plants back as soon as flowers fade to help them clump up.
