An extremely popular and versatile longpod variety, one of the most reliable available, producing well formed pods containing 6-8 white beans each. Dependable for high yields and great flavoured beans, suitable for freezing. For outdoor sowing
When February to May or October to November.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow in wide double rows 60cm apart with 15cm between seeds. Space in a zig-zag pattern. Cover with 5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care Protect with cloches in cold, wet weather. Keep moist and weed free. Plants may require support in exposed locations.
Harvest June to August. Pick regularly while beans are small and tender.
For indoor sowing
When February to April.
Where In pots of moist compost.
How Sow one or two seeds per pot. Cover with 2.5cm of fine compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 10-21 days. Keep at approx. 15-20°C.
Care Stand outside for a few days from April (avoid frosts). Transplant 15cm apart in a zig-zag pattern, in wide rows 60cm apart.
Harvest June to July. Pick regularly while beans are small and tender. Pinch out growing tip once lower pods have formed to deter blackfly.
