A traditional favourite dwarf broad bean with a useful compact habit which is ideal for small gardens, exposed locations and even containers. Each hardy, stocky plant produces 3-4 sturdy stems with clusters of 15cm pods containing full flavoured white beans. For outdoor sowing
When February to June and October to November.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow in wide double rows 45cm apart with 15cm between seeds. Space in a zig-zag pattern. Cover with 5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care Protect with cloches in cold, wet weather. Keep moist and weed free. Plants may require support in exposed locations.
Harvest June to September. Pick regularly while beans are small and tender.
For indoor sowing. When February to April. Where In pots of moist compost. How Sow one or two seeds per pot. Cover with 2.5cm of fine compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 10-21 days. Keep at approx. 15-20°CCare Stand outside for a
few days from April (avoid frosts). Transplant 15cm apart in a zig-zag pattern, in wide rows 45cm apart. Harvest June to August. Pick regularly while beans are small and tender. Pinch out growing tip once lower pods have formed to deter blackfly.
