When January to April.
Where In trays of moist compost.
How Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 20°C
Seedlings appear 14-28 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Transplant 30cm apart in flowering position.
Flowers June to October, the same year.
For outdoor sowing
When April to June.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 15cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. When large enough thin to 8-10cm apart.
Care Transplant 30cm apart in flowering position from September onwards.
Flowers June to October, the following year. Trim back plants straight after flowering
to retain their shape.
