Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover lightly with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 14-21 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. Grow on at approx. 13-15°C. When large enough transplant 5cm apart. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Transplant 15cm apart in flowering position. Keep moist.
Flowers June to October.
For outdoor sowing
When April to May.
Where In a prepared seed bed in flowering position.
How Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Keep moist.
Care When large enough thin to 15cm apart. Keep moist and weed free.
Flowers June to October. Remove dead heads to prolong flowering. Grow some plants in pots to fill gaps in the border.
