Johnsons - Lettuce Red Salad Bowl - 1000 Seeds

Very easy to grow as ‘baby leaves’ or as whole ‘loose leaf’ lettuces with attractive red tinged oakleaf-shaped leaves. Excellent bolt resistance. For outdoor sowing
When March to July and to August for baby leaves.
Where In a prepared seed bed or large container.
How Sow thinly in rows 25cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 7-14 days. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care For ‘cut and come again’ baby leaves no further thinning is required. Or, when large enough thin to 15cm apart for mature lettuces. Keep moist and weed free. Protect early sowings with cloches.
Harvest April to October. For individual baby leaves, pick as required, a few from each plant. Leaves then regrow for up to 4 cuts. Pick whole heads from June. Pick young leaves regularly to promote further growth.
