Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover lightly with compost and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15°C. Seedlings appear 21-42 days.
Care Remove cover as seedlings appear. When large enough transplant to individual small pots, disturbing roots as little as possible. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Then transplant 45cm apart in flowering position.
Flowers August to September, the same year.
For outdoor sowing
When April to July.
Where In a prepared seed bed in flowering position.
How Sow thinly in rows 45cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil.
Care Keep moist. When large enough thin to 45cm apart.
Flowers May to July, the following year. Soak seed for 24 hours before sowing.
