Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover lightly with compost and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15°C. Seedlings appear 21-42 days.
Care Remove cover as seedlings appear. When large enough transplant to individual small pots, disturbing roots as little as possible. Stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). Then transplant 45cm apart in flowering position.
Flowers August to September, the same year.
For outdoor sowing
When April to July.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 23cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Keep moist.
Care When large enough thin to 15cm apart. Transplant 45cm apart in flowering position from September to October. Keep moist and weed free.
Flowers May to July, the following year. Soak seed for 24 hours before sowing.
