Very attractive leaves with a mildly spicy flavour, they can be harvested from baby leaf to fully mature plants. The flowering shoots are also edible. For outdoor sowing
When March to August.
Where In a prepared seed bed in growing position.
How Sow thinly in rows 25cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care For baby leaves thin to 5cm apart, for mature plants, thin to 20cm apart. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest April to November. Pick leaves as required for baby leaf salad, leave plants in situ and harvest again for 2-3 further cuts, or allow to develop to mature plants. For maximum crispness cut in the morning or evening.
