When March to April.
Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover lightly with compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Seedlings appear 14-28 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Transplant 15cm apart in flowering position. Keep moist and weed free.
Flowers June to September, remove dead heads to prolong flowering.
For outdoor sowing
When May to early June.
Where In a prepared seed bed in flowering position.
How Sow thinly in rows 15cm apart. Cover with 0.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care When large enough thin to 15cm apart.
Flowers June to October, remove dead heads to prolong flowering. An early and late sowing will extend the season until the first frosts.
