A very hardy strain which is slow to form bulbs. Long cropping, it can be sown from spring until September, for use the following spring. For outdoor sowing
When February to September. Protect sowings with cloches if soil is wet and cold.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 15cm apart. Cover lightly with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-21 days. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care No thinning is needed if sown thinly. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest June to November, August to September sowings will be ready the following March to May.
Harvest alternate onions from the row, leaving others to grow on. Leave some summer sowings in the ground to harvest in winter.
