When January to February, for the biggest bulbs.
Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 14-28 days.
Care When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). Plant out 20cm apart. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest August to September.
For outdoor sowing
When March to April.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 30cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil and keep moist.
Care When large enough thin to 20cm apart, use thinnings for salads or transplant to grow on. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest August to September. When tops turn yellow bend them over to assist ripening.
