A colourful addition to salads, the colour intensifies as the leaves get larger and it can be retained with minimal stir-fry cooking. Slow to bolt. For outdoor sowing

Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 40cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks. Seedlings appear 14-21 days.
Care Leave unthinned for baby leaves or thin out to 20cm apart for mature plants. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest June to October. Take whole heads or for baby leaves cut a few at a time from approx. 5cm high, allowing leaves to regrow for 2-3 further cuts. Baby leaf crops can also be grown in well watered containers in a greenhouse.
