Where In pots or trays of moist compost.
How For best results soak seed for 24 hours prior to sowing, then remove the orange ‘tufts’. Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 25°C, germination may be erratic. Seedlings appear 1-6 months.
Care Remove individual seedlings as they appear. Transplant individual seedlings into small pots. Grow on and transplant to larger pots as necessary. Water sparingly, only when compost is dry. Plants can be placed on a sheltered patio in summer but will not survive temperatures below 10°C. It will take several years for plants to mature to flowering.
Flowers Mature plants flower April to July. A liquid feed is recommended once a fortnight in summer.
