When January to March or September to October.
Where In small pots of seed compost.
How Sow singly, cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15°C. Seedlings appear 12-21 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Transplant 30cm apart in flowering position. Keep moist and weed free.
Flowers May to October.
For outdoor sowing
When April to May.
Where In a prepared seed bed in flowering position.
How Sow thinly in rows 45cm apart. Cover lightly with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care When large enough thin to 30cm apart. Train up supports as required.
Flowers June to October. Pick regularly for longer flowering. Pinch out growing tip when approx. 15cm high for bushier plants.
