Aster Duchess Mixed
This variety of Aster makes a bold display and a superb cut flower. Duchess is later flowering than other varieties of Aster but once it does flower, it produces stunning, large chrysanthemum-like blooms with thick in-curved petals at an approximate height of 60cm.
Sow from March to April in trays of moist seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm place and keep at a temperature of between 20-25°C. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-30cm apart in well-drained soil in full sun. Flowers from July to October.
