Broccoli Purple Sprouting
This is the most popular of the sprouting broccoli varieties. It is very hardy and produces an abundance of dark purple spears, which turn green on cooking.
Sow the seed from April to May thinly in a well prepared seed bed, 1cm deep in short rows. As the seedlings appear, gradually thin to 7cm apart. When seedlings are about 10-15cm tall, transplant to the growing site spacing plants about 60cm apart. Water well and firm soil around roots. Harvest from March to May the following year.
