Dahlia Unwins Dwarf Hybrids
Approx 60 Seeds
The real advantage of growing Dahlias from seed is that you get the best of both worlds. The first year will provide a very economical collection of delightful flowers and each plant will produce tubers that can be carefully lifted for storing and re-planting the following year. Unwins Dwarf produces semi-double blooms in a range of bright clear colours with some bi-coloured blooms, reaching an approximate height of 50cm.
Sow the seeds from February to April in trays of moist seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm place and keep at a temperature of between 20-25°C. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays, 5cm apart. As seedlings grow, transplant into 9cm pots and gradually harden off before planting out in the flowering site from late May onwards. Space plants 45-60cm apart. Flowers from July onwards.
