This is a real cottage garden spectacular. It produces tall, elegant spires of shades of blue, white and lilac with various coloured centres.

Sow the seeds from September to October in a nursery bed, 5mm deep in short rows. Thin the seedlings as they grow to 10-15cm apart. Transplant to the flowering site in September or October, 40-60cm apart. Flowers from June to early August the following year. In colder areas cover plants with compost to give some frost protection. A favourite of slugs and snails so protect if necessary.
