Hundredweight can attain huge weights if grown singly. This pumpkin is oval to round in appearance with a deep orange flesh which can be used for making soups or a tasty pumpkin pie. To enable your fruits to thrive, allow 200cm between plants. If you want one enormous pumpkin it is important to thin out any other fruits as they form so they do not use any of the nutrients or water required for your giant fruit!

Sow the seeds from April to May under glass, or mid-May to June outdoors. Sow seed on its edge to prevent rotting, 1.5cm deep in pots or trays, 2.5cm (1"") apart. Grow the seeds under glass at 20°C. Sow outdoors mid-May to June direct into growing site 1.5cm deep 2 to 3 seeds in each position 90-100cm apart. Greenhouse sowings should be gradually hardened off once they have developed the first pair of rough leaves. Outdoor sowings should be thinned to one plant per station. Ready to harvest from September to October.
