Lettuce Freckles

This is an old romaine type. It is an early lettuce that has glossy green leaves and maroon splotches. The lettuce holds well when mature. It can be planted in a flower border.

Sow from March to June in modules ready to plant out from late spring onwards. Spacing at 35cm apart. Sow small quantities of seed at intervals to get a continuous harvest.

We often plant lettuce under the runner beans and harvest them before the bean foliage gets too thick. A great space saver.
