These large, long-lived, clump-forming plants make wonderful border fillers and are superb for cutting. This hardy perennial reaches the height of 90cm
CAUTION: May cause skin allergy.
Sow indoors for surest results, from February to May, 1.5cm deep, in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse, or a warm kitchen windowsill. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Transplant individually, when large enough to handle, to 7.5cm pots. Always hold seedlings by a leaf, never by the stem. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions, avoiding frosts, before planting out into well-drained soil, from May to October, 40cm apart. Or, sow outdoors, from May to July, in a seed bed, into finely-prepared, well-drained soil, which has already been watered. Keep moist and weed free. Thin seedlings to 5cm apart, before planting out to flowering position in autumn. Flowers from June to August, the following year.
